Maintenance Tips for Teak Outdoor Furniture.

1. Thorough Cleaning After Winter
After a long winter, your outdoor furniture could use a refresh. Use a soft brush and a mixture of lukewarm water and mild soap to remove dirt and dust. Avoid harsh cleaning agents that could damage the wood’s finish.
2. Wood Care: Let Teak Breathe
The teak furniture from Chill-Dept. is made from high-quality, SVLK-certified teak wood. Over time, the wood naturally turns grey, adding to the material’s charm. If your teak furniture has greyed and you want to bring back its warm honey color, lightly sand it with fine sandpaper (grain 180-220). Always sand with the grain to avoid damage. After sanding, remove the dust with a dry cloth. Want to maintain the original color? Use a special teak sealer or teak oil.
3. Cleaning Fabrics and Cushions
We primarily use high-quality Sunproof® outdoor fabrics for our furniture, which are water-repellent and UV-resistant. Still, it’s good to clean them regularly. Use a soft brush and a solution of water and mild soap, let it soak in for a moment, then rinse thoroughly. Let the fabric dry in the open air.
4. Protection from the Elements
Want to extend the lifespan of your teak furniture? If bad weather persists, store it indoors in a dry, not too warm place. This prevents the wood from warping due to temperature fluctuations or high humidity. A garage or shed with good ventilation is ideal.
5. Regular Checks
Regularly check the hinges and connections of your furniture. Tighten screws if necessary and check for wear. This way, you’ll enjoy optimal comfort for longer.
